WMA stands for Windows Media Audio. WMAs claim to fame is that it produces great sounding audio while reducing comparable MP3 audio file sizes by one third or more. Virtually all audio production software allows you to save in WMA format. Sampling Rate In the world of high fidelity, you want CD quality audio. In the bandwith limited world of telephones, data that contains higher frequencies never makes it through the telephone pipeline. There is a tradeoff between file size and sampling rate. Our tests show that that delta is at 32kbps bit rate sampled at 32kHz for mp3 and 20kHz for WMA

  Unit uses PC only to update content stored in flash memory. Updated content can optionally be added by copying an MP3 or WMA audio file to a Secure Digital (SD) Card without the unit ever being connected to a PC or network.

  Retains stored preferences such as: music selection, repeat mode and volume settings. If power to the unit is lost, unit immediately returns to continuous playback with all settings without human intervention.
